Yesterday with excitement I attended the first screening organised by My Fair Lady, advocate of cruelty-free, vegan and fair trade beauty goods in Hong Kong. On the grey screen was A Small Act, and that small act in focus was an old Jewish lady Hilde Back’s unintentional tuition fee sponsorship to the now accomplished founder of a charitable organisation that pays the priceless support forward to Kenyan kids. It is a beautiful story about charitable causes. Yet what touches me is when one of the candidates Ruth said she ran out of words to describe how much she craves knowledge and when the founder Chris said education is a life and death matter.
Lessons that I left the theatre with? That I shouldn’t waste my current ability to be even more knowledgeable about the world and that what we at JupYeah strive to do may be trivial but perhaps that small act can have a huge impact on someone, if not society, if not the world.
